ANOTHER YEAR

BdaySkeletonwithFlowers.jpg

I discovered Gage Academy earlier this year, and my life will never be the same. I'm currently enrolled in the Drawing Atelier, an intensive, school-year-long class taught by Geoff Flack.

Yesterday, my classmates surprised me with some birthday decorations, flowers, and cake. I love the happy colors and mild, pleasant fragrance of these flowers. (With a November birthday, I can't tell you how many times I've been given rust-brown chrysanthemums, which are kind of depressing.) The cake was passionfruit, from a Hawaiian bakery that's in the neighborhood near our studio, a beautiful orange color decorated with a purple orchid and magenta carnation.

ON IMPERFECTION

Ring the bells that can still ring
Forget your perfect offering
There's a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
