WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS --

-- and a Happy New Year! May your holidays be everything you hope them to be.

We hosted Christmas Eve dinner for my family last night. Here's how the table was set:

Allegra and I had the rather inspired idea to replace the typical place cards with Scrabble trays and tiles. Since my family members are big fans of word games in general and Scrabble in particular, this cracked them all up. Later in the night, after the guests had all gone and we were lying all snug in our beds, Scott and I thought we heard reindeer games in the dining room:

Now, THAT is a terrific family photo! You all look terrific. I love the Scrabble place cards, and I have to remember that idea. What a kick. You look like you have a lot of fun!
